Amber Wallis I Where Representation & Abstraction Meet
This course is now full - please contact us to be added to the waitlist.
Explore the painterly terrain where representation and abstraction meet.
Often art straddles the line between representation and abstraction, revealing how ordinary objects often serve as a point of departure for an artist's abstract vision or, alternatively, how an artist’s abstract forms may subtly suggest recognisable elements.
In this seven-week course Amber Wallis will discuss and assist students to explore where representation (including figuration) and abstraction meet.
Each week students will undertake a new technique and exploration into abstraction. Looking at transforming representation into abstraction, students will also be mining contemporary practices for exciting and dynamic ways to approach abstraction.
Amber will guide students, helping them to find their visual language and explore their own visual interests. Amber offers a supportive learning environment while also fostering critical thinking.
