Ree Hegh
Ree Hegh is an artist and educator who works across sculpture, painting and video installation to investigate the durability and delicacy of everyday materials. Often sourcing used, broken and discarded quotidian objects as a starting point for an artwork, Ree engages a ‘break and repair’ process to transform objects and materials, producing artworks that combine elements of ruin and restoration.
Ree graduated from Queensland College of Art (QCA) with Bachelor of Fine Art (First Class Honours) and the University Medal for Fine Art in 2017. Currently, she is in the final stages of a Doctor of Visual Arts (DVA) program. As an educator, Ree emphasises the importance of process, experimentation and play to produce a variety of artistic outcomes.
Ree’s work is included in the 2022/23 touring Jacaranda Acquisitive Drawing Award (JADA) exhibition. She has exhibited with The Walls Art Gallery, Gold Coast, Wellington St Projects, Sydney, POP Gallery, Brisbane and Byron School of Art, Mullumbimby. She was a Bundanon Artist in Residence in 2019 and participated in the Samrit Artist Residency, Thailand in 2018.
