KAT SHAPIRO WOOD | CERAMIC MARK MAKING : SLIP INLAY

During this weekend workshop, Kat will demonstrate a number of possibilities with decorative slip inlay, with contrasting or stained clay bodies, as a means to create pattern and line.

Students will build either simple clay forms, or slabs, as a canvas for mark making. The potential of this graphically effective technique is vast, and an exciting means to present as a drawing form in itself, as a wall piece, for example, or to add surface interest to either sculpture or functional forms. Students can use the class to test and experiment with the learnt range of possibilities, and/or to resolve finished work. Pieces will be fired, unglazed, to Midfire temperature, and ready to collect within two weeks following the course.

There will be a base materials fee of $20 per student, and a firing fee of $15/kg post firing.

About Kat

Dates | Saturday & Sunday 22 & 23 October

Course Code | 2204

Workshop fee | $385 ($355 Earlybird)
