KAT SHAPIRO WOOD | A CERAMIC FIGURE STUDY (with a live model)
This workshop is an opportunity to create a small figurative sculpture with a life model as reference. Students will be supported to observe the figure from a sculptural perspective and interpret their observations into a small-scale solid clay study, with scope to take it in more abstracted directions as desired. Kat will share techniques for modelling with clay, working with wooden tools (provided), and building in an appropriately safe way to be able to fire the work, while giving guidance in developing individual language of form and expression. A short session in the last hours of day two will allow for some raw surface decoration with slip, colour and glaze.
Following the weekend, pieces will be dried and fired, and ready for pick up within three weeks.
$20/kg post firing fee (includes materials)
