Jenny Gill Schirmer I Clay Foundations

In this weekend hands-on workshop students will develop an understanding of the fundamentals of clay and learn the skills required to sculpt and construct contemporary ceramic pieces. A variety of techniques will be explored. Clay types and firing considerations will also be discussed, providing a practical introduction to the ceramic process.

Jenny will start with organic forms and guide students through the techniques that form the basis for ceramic sculpture. Students will then move onto a construction project to develop problem-solving skills allowing for experimentation with more complex structures.

This course is open to anyone interested in exploring the use of clay in their artistic practice, including those with no previous experience.

Suitable for all levels of experience.

Material fee: $20

Firing fee: $6/kg each firing
