DALE RHODES | PAINTING STILL LIFES FROM SIMPLE SETUPS
During this weekend workshop students will explore still life painting from simple arrangements of everyday objects.
Dale will cover ways of conceiving a still life painting by choosing and arranging objects we encounter every day. Consideration will be given to composition, lighting, colour, tone and texture.
Following the process of setting up a still life, students will look at ways of beginning, progressing and finishing a still life painting. This will include materials and surface, applying a ground, drawing and establishing masses and tone, developing colour and depth, and finishing the painting. Dale will provide technical assistance and support while encouraging students to develop their own feel and approach to painting.
