Dale Rhodes | Intermediate Oil Painting

This six-week course is designed to extend and deepen the concepts explored in the Fundamentals of Painting course. Painting experience is preferred but not essential.

Dale will support students in a solid grounding of the technical aspects of creating a successful painting, with emphasis on a free, expressive approach that helps develop your own unique way of painting. Students will work from various still life set-ups to develop a solid understanding of the core elements of painting.

Dale will start the course with drawing to understand tone, volume and the creation of three dimensional form, initially working with charcoal.  Students will further explore tone as well as colour mixing, understanding and using warm and cool colours, using colour themes in your work, the importance of brushwork, and developing an individual painting style.
