This seven-week course will introduce the foundational skills needed to paint portraits, still life, landscapes and more. Students will be introduced to basic paint handling as well as the fundamentals of tone, colour, form, depth and brush strokes. Dale will give students a simple approach that can be used for any painting from a quick study to highly complex paintings.

Students will discover which paint colours are really needed and which aren't, as well as investigate mediums, brushes and all technical and equipment questions.

The course will focus on oil paints. Dale will advise how oils can be used with no solvents at all if toxicity or odour is a concern.
