Caleb Reid | Abstract Painting

In this 6 week course, students will explore various ways to approach abstraction in painting.

Each week Caleb will guide students to undertake a new technique and investigate multiple ways in which to make paintings.

Students will start with exploring abstraction of real objects, using shapes, tone, texture and colour to create images that are abstractions of identifiable things. Students will then expand this idea further into the realm of pure abstraction. Looking into what makes a successful painting that does not seek to depict identifiable things. An arena of emotion, ideas and painting with freedom from representational qualities.

Caleb will encourage students begin to find their visual language and explore their own visual interests, offering a supportive learning environment while fostering critical thinking.
