SOFIE DIEU | INK PAINTING
As a ground up introduction to the fundamentals in ink painting, participants will learn the central role of water to compose a balanced artwork.
This one day workshop will cover wet and dry techniques, texture effect, ink management, paper and brush quality. Students will play with notions of gradation, composition, balance between detailed and quiet space and will experiment through layering effects to create light and darkness. Using various reserve techniques and mark making methods, participants will develop their own visual lexicon.
By the end of this workshop, students will have created a board detailing all the techniques learned as well as two A3 paintings (or more if very productive!) summing up the textures, mark making and finishes developed throughout the day.
