Born in Melbourne, and now living in Mullumbimby, Sam has been involved in a wide range of Art and Design since graduating in Fine Art from the National Gallery School (Victoria). Successfully running his own Design studio for over 20 years, Sam has also taught graphic design, drawing and printmaking at QUT and TAFE in Brisbane and in Melbourne. He is a patient and thorough teacher, imparting his passion for the arts to his students.
In 2012 Sam visited Japan and studied Japanese woodblock techniques and hand printing with Richard Steiner in Kyoto. A solo Japanese inspired show in Byron Bay, followed a year later. The show combined traditional woodblock techniques with digital colorisation print editions. Sam has since taught and also participated in print workshops around the country to foster his own professional development. Sam's work is displayed in the Queensland University Library, and in private collections internationally and in Australia.
